Cynthia Hudson
Growing up in KANSAS CITY with art and dance as her cultural foundation, it was only logical that Cynthia Hudson would incorporate the two to create a masterful body of lyrical, lively artwork infused with music and dance reference.
When Cynthia was born her father was a student at the KANSAS CITY ART INSTITUTE and her mother owned a dance studio, and as a result, her painting style is decidedly "choreographed," with every painting possessing a mood and rhythm of its own.
Known for bold strokes, vibrant colors and heavy textures,
Cynthia's explores subjects thoroughly, and in depth, such as
in her Jazz, Whimsical, Beach,
Floral and Abstract Series.
Cynthia has painted numerous commission for corporations and private collectors, has exhibited in various galleries across the country.
Cynthia loves to hide
heart paintings (in the open) for
everyone and anyone to find, along
with a sign saying "FREE, please

Cynthia Hudson’s artistic journey began in 1970 with acrylics, laying the foundation for what would become a lifelong passion. She soon transitioned to oil painting through intensive portrait classes, where she mastered the art of highly realistic portraiture. These early years saw the creation of numerous oil portraits, establishing her reputation for detail and depth.
Her curiosity and drive to grow as an artist led her to explore watercolor and a variety of other mediums through workshops and classes. These explorations resulted in expressive florals, vibrant portraits, and scenic landscapes that reflected her expanding creative vision.
Eventually, Cynthia returned to acrylics—her first medium—with a new set of skills and influences. Her approach evolved from strict realism to a more impressionistic style, particularly evident in her dynamic jazz-themed acrylic works. Her subjects have remained diverse, ranging from people and florals to wildlife, landscapes, still life, and abstract compositions.
Over the years, Cynthia’s work has been consistently showcased at art fairs and galleries. Her prolific output and passion for giving back have resulted in the sale of over 9,000 paintings, and the donation of more than 600 artworks to causes close to her heart.
